Some of the activities that support academic success were the spelling bee, the science fair and essay writing contest. The center used the released list of words from the Scripps National Spelling Bee for the afterschool program spelling bee. During the science fair, the students followed the steps of the scientific method, created a display board and presented their projects during the science fair. The students submitted the same project for the SBHS school science fair, most of which landed on the top 3 awards in the middle school category.
